Our vision is to end malnutrition, obesity and homelessness in our community by implementing strategies that address the root cause of the resulting physical and emotional suffering of our target population.
One Hundred and Eighty Degrees and Still Standing will empower youth and families to reverse the impacts of Malnutrition and homelessness in Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties within the State of California.
Who We Are
One Hundred and Eighty Degrees and Still Standing began in 2009 and was incorporated in March 2010 as a grassroots organization with efforts to address homelessness among women and children by providing cost free housing and meals. Our activities changed slightly when we were constantly reminded by the children in our facility that their friends were hungry, thus, we launched our feeding program in October of 2011.
No child should grow up hungry, but one in five children struggles with hunger. Since fall 2011, One Eighty’s efforts have helped bring more than 5 million additional meals to kids who need them. We’re witnessing the incredible impact that this approach is having on families and kids as our numbers continue to grow.
We began by feeding 150 children each day. Our feeding count grew to 5,000 meals a day in just 18 months. With such high demand we ex-panded in March 2014 to San Bernardino and Riverside County and opened our second kitchen. By June 2014 our feeding count reached 10,000 children per day. To date we have a waiting list of more than 12,000 children in the Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino County.
The unique operation of our company is that we prepare fresh food daily and deliver it to the children where they live, attend school or play.
